Thursday February 13, 2020 ((rezonodwes.com)) – This Thursday February 13, 2020 brings back the 9th edition of the World Radio Day under the theme of diversity. This commemoration reminds us that information is the raw material of all social and economic activity.
There is therefore a correlation between the right to information and socio-economic development, good governance, social cohesion guaranteeing peace, public security and the improvement of living together.
L The State must guarantee, with the development of broadcasting, the establishment of reliable communication channels in and for the full expression of diversity, taking into account all opinions, all traditions or lifestyles.
Concerted actions for a more productive and economically viable audiovisual landscape are essential. Ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework, by all actors in the chain, remains one of the biggest challenges for broadcasting in Haiti. The application of legal provisions and the modernization of the Haitian audiovisual sector constitute priority tasks of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL).
Let the theme of diversity chosen by UNESCO, the initiator of this day, be the opportunity for deep reflection on our role in promoting otherness, acceptance of the other, intelligent dialogue, rejection of all violence and all misinformation, in a word, on social peace.
Seizing the opportunity of this 9th edition of World Radio Day, CONATEL wishes a happy holiday to the big family of broadcasting in Haiti.
