According to Demezier, many young Haitian women immigrants in Chile are victims of violence, mainly from their original partners like them from Haiti.
“A month and a half ago, my compatriot and friend Stephania Celin was stabbed 15 times by his ex-partner. There are many situations of domestic violence in the Haitian community in Chile, “said the entrepreneur and leader of the Timounyo Foundation to a journalist Rezo Nòdwès.

Demezier claims that Haitian women are vulnerable because they are economically dependent on men, are illegally present and can not find work.
