Several Taiwanese universities said they were ready on November 14 to welcome Taiwanese students leaving Hong Kong and students of other nationalities wishing to pursue their studies in good conditions
Friday, November 15, 2019 ((rezonodwes.com – While violent clashes erupted in recent days on campuses of several universities in Hong Kong, leading to the suspension of classes until the end of the semester, Taiwanese universities said they were ready on November 14 to host not only Taiwanese students enrolled in these institutions but also students of other nationalities wishing to pursue their studies in good conditions.
The National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), the National Taiwan University (NTU), the Tsing Hua National University (NTHU) and Dong Hwa National University (NDHU), among other institutions, have announced e different provisions allowing the emergency reception of Taiwanese students wishing to leave Hong Kong. Of a total of 1,021 Taiwanese students enrolled in Hong Kong universities, 368 returned to Taiwan on November 14, the Ministry of Continental Affairs said in Taipei.
Several universities, including the NTU, also reported to open their doors to international students enrolled in Hong Kong universities, especially those from foreign institutions with cooperative agreements with higher education institutions in Taiwan
On 13 November, Tsai Ing, President of the Republic [蔡英文] urged the international community to stand with Hong Kong and express its concern over the chaos that is unfolding there.
