The more it changes, the more it is the same!
Port-au-Prince, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 ((rezonodwes.com)) – Fifteen new buses were handed last Friday to drivers grouped under the Alternative Investment Transport (AIT) thanks to a guarantee fund of 1.5 billion gourdes of the current Government.
According to information collected by Rezo Nòdwès, these buses, obtained from a refundable credit over a period of 5 years, will be put into service in various circuits of the metropolitan area and provincial cities.
For the executive branch, this operation is part of the efforts to modernize public transport. However, several attempts of this kind made by various governments have been ended by bitter failures.
Under the presidency of René Préval, the trade unionists shared more than a hundred buses of the public company “Service Plus” and put this company out of business. The members of these unions, who are generally well looked after in times of crisis, when the leaders find themselves back to the wall, have even received, in school grant, according to the daily newspaper Le Nouvelliste, 39 million gourdes of President René Préval and Michèle Pierre-Louis, Prime Minister of the Year, 10 Million
In January 2015, President Michel Joseph Martelly, still under the pretext of modernizing transportation and favoring slum youth, distributed 72 brand new buses. at a unit cost of US $ 22,000, subject to a daily payment of 1150 gourdes by the driver-owner.
Shortly after, these vehicles suffered the same fate as those entrusted to the members of SONI, the investment group created in 2009 by the trade unionists
Nothing more constant than what is called change!
