Singer, author, composer, guitarist and percussionist Originally from Grand-Anse, Southwest of Haiti, Jean Jean Roosevelt is a born artist. He is the youngest in a family of six children. His father is a guitarist. Her late mother was passionate about music and theater. The story goes that he was born on September 30 while his mom was conducting a choir. At university, he specializes in art history. His music feeds on multi-ethnic influences, marked by a cultural mix existing on the island since the slave trade. It is an alliance of Creole rhythms: Nago, Ibo, Yanvalou, Djouba, Kongo, Rabòday, etc. and influences from reggae, RnB, afro beat. Jean Jean Roosevelt has won numerous song contests in Haiti organized by local institutions including Radio Grand’Anse (1990), Tropical airways (1998), Solèy Sounds System (2005, 2006).
In 2013, he won the gold medal in the song category at the Games of La Francophonie held in Nice in France and was crowned TV5 world prize.
