Thursday, January 16, 2020 ((rezonodwes.com)) – Like all the main union leaders operating in the education sector, Georges Wilbert Franck of the National Union of Normaliens (nes) and Educators (UNNOEH), continues to denounce the administrative mismanagement within the current regime and the poor governance of the National Education Fund.
The teacher claims that President Jovenel Moise has shown no will to rebuild the schools that are under tents and tarpaulins, ten years after the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010.
Georges Wilbert Franck believes that we should not attach importance to the declaration of President Jovenel Moise suggesting that he will build 10 high schools with the budgetary envelope granted to senators and deputies no longer part of the institution.
“We are used to the untimely declarations of the Head of State, making s impossible promises to ask for forgiveness afterwards, “the unionist quipped.” Franck wondered why it took until the dysfunction of parliament to think of building these schools when billions of gourdes from the FNE (National Fund have been used by the leaders without us seeing the results.
The union leader cited as an example an announcement of disbursement during the last months of 2 billion gourdes made by the Minister of Éducation Nationale and another 4 billion gourdes from the Presidency.
“No school was built with this money when the authorities had promised to improve the school offer,” prevailed Franck who invited the population to mobilize to force the leaders to assume their responsibilities with regard to improving the education system and to make public school available to all the children of Haiti.
