Thursday, January 10, 2019 ((rezonodwes.com)) – From Sunday, January 13, the city of Port-au-Prince will vibrate to the sounds of the pre-carnival atmosphere. So decided the mayor of this municipality headed by the manager of the band Barikad Crew, Youri Chevry.
Mayor Chevry who wants to set the tone this year, while the national carnival will be hosted by the city of independence, has compiled a list of seven Sundays (13, 20, 27 January and 3, 10, 17 and 24 February) during which carnivals will have to party in the streets of the capital.
Several measures have been taken by the municipal administration to facilitate the full success of these 7 pre-Carnival Sundays:
1 – The lanes leading to Lalue (Ave John Brown), from Martin Luther King Avenue to Oswald Durand Street, will be closed to the traffic from 2 o'clock in the afternoon. These are Robin Streets, Carlstroem, Bern, North Alexis, 1st Jeremy Lane, 2nd Jeremy Lane, Chrétien, Impasse Lavaud, Dufort, Christophe Avenue, Marchand Post Office, Capois and Lamarre.
2. Wheelbarrows are prohibited from traveling on the course.
3. It is forbidden to drive with firearms and / or with knives or anything else that could injure people
4. Merchants are prohibited from displaying and selling drinks in glass bottles. However, plastic bottles and cans will be allowed.
Any offender will be brought to justice.
