How to continue to promote reading as an intellectual activity in a peyi “lock” situation? By setting up a home loan service. This is the brilliant idea of the Cultural and Research Center for Youth Development (CECREJ), a member of the library network supported by FOKAL.
Launched during the month of November in the localities of Diquini and Bizoton, the project “ Biblio-Local Loan ” allows readers of the community to receive at home, books from the library directory for loan. This initiative aims “ to widen the readership of the library and to sensitize the population on the importance of the reading in the life of the people “, explain the persons in charge of the Center located in Diquini 63.
Indeed, the wave of social demands in the country having atrophied activities and kept people at home, often with not many new books to read, the service is an alternative to this disadvantage, at a time when many libraries have closed their doors. Since readers can not travel, the CECREJ facilitators go door-to-door to bring them the books, which are lent for eight (8) days. Each beneficiary may borrow up to two books.
To ensure the reliability of the program and the security of the book in circulation, the borrower must live at the address where the borrowed document is located, and complete a file of commitment that takes into account all parameters and conditions of the loan
The beneficiaries of this program are very varied. They are readers of all ages, belonging to the most diverse social and professional categories, with very different interests.
The public welcomed the program with open arms and congratulated the cultural center for this innovative initiative in localities of the municipality. Dozens of young schoolchildren and academics have already benefited from this program
CECREJ promises to continue to support the youth of Carrefour in its quest for emancipation and intellectual and cultural development. CECREJ remains a space open to all for visits or consultations.
