Mr. Carl Murat Cantave
President of the Senate of the Republic
In His Offices.-
Signatory Senators of the present, representing the institutional opposition, greet you patriotically and take advantage of the present to lay down the conditions for resumption of activities in the Upper House.
We demand that the following points be carried out.
1. – The holding of a conference of Presidents to pose and solve the problems that impede the proper functioning of the Senate
2.- The establishment of a Commission to investigate the latest corruption scandals, in particular, the one involving the Prime Minister named Fritz William Michel, and the GPRD senators who would have each received the sum of 100,000.00 US dollars for the ratification of its general policy statement so i that those involving other Senators
3.- The transmission of the latest report Petro Caribe of the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Litigation, filed by the Senate for several months, and the Dermalog file, before the competent court
We would like to draw your attention, Mr. President, to the fact that we are going through a special period of time since, on the one hand, the Chamber of Deputies went on holiday not to return and on the other hand the elections scheduled for October 28 will no longer be able to be held.
In this exceptional context, we believe that the Senate has a duty to assume the responsibilities incumbent upon it, through its President, by initiating discussions with the various actors to provide immediate answers to urgent problems such as fuel scarcity, expensive living, the accelerated depreciation of the gourd, the insecurity and the question of the electoral crisis that we already see close.
The Petro-Caribe file, the massacres of the Saline and others, the aborted school year, the systematic corruption that gangrenes the public administration, l President Jovenel Moise's manifest inability to govern the country; and its involvement in various corruption scandals (AGRITRANS SOFIDAI through BETEX) are all facts that should alert you to the need to start talks with all Senators to define the best strategy that will leave the country of this country.
We Opposition Senators, members of the institutional opposition, believe that an end to the crisis inevitably involves the accountability of the Senate of the Republic. In default of this one, it will be up to the Haitian people, the true sovereign, to take in hand their destiny.
Hoping that you will be able to appreciate the seriousness of the situation by subscribing to our recommendations, we ask you to accept , Mr. President, the assurance of our brotherly consideration.
For institutional opposition,
Senator Nènel Cassy, Senator Sorel Jacinthe, Senator Yuri Latortue
