Singh and the representative of the French Ambassador Laurent Bonneau officially launched the Fortnight of La Francophonie
At this ceremony, the MCC Holder note that this year's theme: “In French and Creole, please”, refers to the principle of cohabitation of the two languages that have managed to evolve on the same territory (Haiti). It recognizes however that it is not always smooth.
This theme, underlines the Minister of Culture and Communication, reflects the very essence of the vocation of this international organization which advocates the beauty of diversity and plurality within nearly 90 states or governments forming the large Francophone community.
La Francophonie is a shared linguistic space, exchange, enrichment, promotion of cultural diversity, peace, living together, promoting human rights and the values of education. In this sense, the Minister Lapin reminds that it goes beyond the institutional, the formal.
According to him: “La Francophonie is also and above all the order of the everyday, the natural, the lived. As a second nature that allows us to live directly in close contact, sometimes in our relationship to the world, sometimes in our cultural diversity.
The Minister, Jean Michel Lapin, goes on to say: “A diversity which, in Haiti, particularly honors us on the cultural and intellectual level, because, through time, through history, we have, not only, acquired the French language and culture, but we also defended them.
Moreover, expressing his pride for Haiti's presence in the Francophone Space, Mr. Rabin said that Haiti should assume his past and his destiny, as well as relying on certain exploits of his past and on a certain destiny, to be able to obtain the necessary force to look at tomorrow.
