24 young executives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship will go on mission to other countries to represent Haiti. They were received on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the National Palace, by the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse. In his speech, during the meeting with these young diplomats who will join diplomatic and consular missions, the Head of State said he was very proud to welcome them. “It is rare to see people coming from modest backgrounds, integrating, on the basis of meritocracy, this so prestigious body”, declared the President Jovenel Moïse.
The ceremony took place, in the presence of the Prime Minister , Joseph Jouthe, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Claude Joseph, among others. For the tenant of the National Palace, this ceremony is proof of his will to fight against exclusion expressed in all its forms in the country. “I insisted on my desire to endow the country with a proactive, skilful, intelligent and rational diplomacy, taking into account the international context and the reality of our country …”, declared Jovenel Moïse, inviting the diplomats, to whom he asks to show dynamism and rationality.
For the Head of State, this renewal of the Haitian diplomatic corps is essential. And these diplomats, he says, are, above all, young patriots. “Their recruitment was carried out on the basis of merit and without any form of patronage or political influence …”, insisted on specifying the Chief Executive who did not fail to mention his pride for the choice of this group of young executives to represent Haiti abroad. He invites them to defend the interests of the country in all areas of international cooperation. “These diplomats who are leaving on a mission very soon, were selected on criteria which favor knowledge, technicality, interpersonal skills, the ability to defend the interests of Haiti to accredited States”, welcomed the first representative of the nation.
One of the young diplomats, Sauvenel Augustin, who spoke on behalf of his peers, reviews the rigor of the selection that was made, as part of this process aimed at strengthening diplomatic and consular staff. He salutes the initiative of the Moïse / Jouthe administration, which offers opportunities for young people to be able to put their knowledge at the service of the Republic, at the chancellery level, while gaining new experiences. He undertakes, on behalf of his colleagues, to represent the country with dignity abroad, to fulfill their duty as patriots and to remain loyal to the common homeland.
