Definitely the American tutelage is displayed more and more in Haiti 216 years after independence. In two (2) State Department tweets relayed by the official tweeter account of the American embassy stationed in Haiti, the American position for elections with Jovenel Moïse becomes clear.
“A functioning democracy requires all branches of governance such as the presence of parliament which must play its role. We encourage those who have an interest in the elections to form a new CEP as provided for in the Constitution, ”the embassy tweeted in Creole.
The embassy in a second tweet indicates that Haiti needs training a Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) with competent, upright and honest people able to organize free and fair elections.
“There are consequences for those who stand in the way”, concludes the United States of America.
