Saturday, July 13, 2019 ((rezonodwes.com)) – Located in Raboteau, a popular area of the city of Gonaïves. the Evangelical Church of Haiti, working primarily in education and culture, has already conducted several conferences, talks and training workshops.
With the support of Project Director HA 0773 Erilais Mesius and the Pastor Jean C. Chalorin, the Evangelical Church of Haiti is building a large library for its faithful and for the entire community of Raboteau. Until the finalization of the building, a mini-library, with nearly two thousand books serves more than five hundred children, under the direction of Frantz Gabilus.
In addition to books of a Christian and academic nature, we can find in this “Chamber of Mind”, youth books and books such as Jacques Roumain's Dews of the Rose, Yuri Latortue's Petro Caribe, Gary Victor's Dambala Stone, The Republic of Haiti's 1987 Constitution Monferiér Dorval, The defense of human rights and its daily mission of Renan Hedonville, Haiti and the question of race of Jean Price Mars.
“I feel tremendously happy, I work openly, because I find it terrific to participate in the formation of young people in my church. It is a great pride, “said Israel Dorzena to express how he feels as a trainer in this institution.
The ambition of Dorzena and her colleagues is to get young people to know the firm desire to arrive at a society without illiteracy.
This church has already participated in several cultural activities in the city of Gonaïves, most recently, the week of Jacques Stephen Alexis made on the occasion of the death of this eminent writer, and the Pawoli Festival.
The majority of Protestant churches in Gonaïves do not invest in the education and training of young Christians, because of a glaring lack of human and financial resources and a sense of organization of the pastoral committee, while in a community, the church should be one of the promoters of intellectual development, and a milestone against obscurantism.
In general, churches in Haiti tend to stay out of the literary world. Yet many Christians are keen on literature and believe that it could contribute to change in the country.
A reading society is likely to benefit everyone, specifically the Protestant community. Etzer Vilaire the author of the text, “The Ten Black Men”, was he not a Christian?
Literature must be at the service of everyone without a fight
