While the United States says it supports democracy and elections in Haiti, they are proposing, at the same time, a transition to Venezuelans.
Saturday, September 19, 2020 ((rezonodwes .com)) – The coalition of Former Mayors of Haiti (CAMH) is outraged and indignant at the discriminatory, racist, colonialist and slavery statements of the United States Embassy in Haiti. Indeed, on his Twitter account, dated September 16, we read and we quote:
“ Haiti must do its job and form a new @cep_haiti with members with a reputation for integrity, honesty and competence to organize a free and fair electoral process. There are CONSEQUENCES for those who stand in the way ”. A position that we consider arrogant and undemocratic on the part of the United States.
“ There are CONSEQUENCES for those who stand in the way ” represents a threat from the US Embassy- United compared to Haitian citizens who will legitimately disavow any electoral process launched by the discredited and unpopular power of Jovenel MOÏSE whose mandate will expire on February 7, 2021. This affront of the United States vis-à-vis Haiti destroys , once again, all the efforts of the freedom fighters who have bequeathed to all Haitians dignified and consequent legitimate rights.
The Coalition of Former Mayors of Haiti (CAMH) recalls that the great majority key sectors of the country have already disapproved of the maneuvers of President Jovenel MOÏSE by refusing to appoint their representatives to the CEP.
Jovenel MOÏSE preferred stubbornness to wisdom with the support of the United States, which tramples on the right to self-determination of the Haitian people and international agreements, treaties and conventions on bilateral relations. While the United States says it supports democracy and elections in Haiti, it is proposing, at the same time, a transition for Venezuelans.
The Coalition of Former Mayors of Haiti (CAMH) invites the Embassy of the United States to respect the rights of the Haitian people to decide their own future and to define their own projects. In the name of universal morality, the American Embassy must accompany the Haitian people in their quest for justice, in their fight against instrumentalized insecurity and state gangsterism.
The Haitian people demand the resignation of Jovenel MOÏSE whose name is mentioned several times in the reports of the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Litigation (CS / CCA) for corruption.
