The Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA), learned with sadness, of the death on the night of August 9, 2020 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Miami, Beach Florida, of Maestro Daniel J. Pyton, the one of the pioneers of Haitian evangelical music.
This sudden disappearance is a deep sorrow for the Haitian people who had so much admiration and love for this multi-talented musician-composer, well known for his dynamism, his discipline , his sense of humor and his creativity. This is a great loss for cultural heritage especially for the Haitian religious sector.
Maestro Daniel J. Pyton was born on February 22, 1950 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On August 28, 1968, he and his brothers founded the Evangelical Orchestra: “La Symphonie Angélique d'Haiti” for which he wrote dozens of carefully prepared musical compositions and toured the world several times.
He trained several generations of musicians through his music theory lessons at the Association of Haitian Christian Musicians (AMCH) in the 1980s; work of musical education that he pursued relentlessly in the United States of America until the end of his life.
In this painful circumstance, the Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA), expresses its profound regrets and words of sympathy to the entire Haitian cultural sector, and offers its sincere condolences to the parents, relatives and friends of Daniel J. Pyton, mourned by this departure.
The funeral services will take place on Saturday 22, August 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church in Miami, Florida.
Created on April 12, 2010 after the earthquake of January 12, 2010, the Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA), has for mission to bring its contribution to projects medical, educational and social, aimed at combating exclusion and isolation by promoting the creation of and maintaining a social link in the communities in which it operates. The Foundation has set itself four (4) areas of intervention: Education, Health, Social and International Cooperation.
