CONTEXT OF THE OPERATION
Started on May 22, the evaluations of the post-earthquake buildings of October 2018 are continuing in the commune of Gros Morne, department of Artibonite. During this period under review, 3599 buildings were assessed representing a population of over 17,000 affected people, the majority of whom continue to live in heavily damaged and high-risk homes. Nearly 300 red marked houses are declared by the MTPTC engineers completely inaccessible because of the earthquake damage and require a rapid reconstruction to meet the urgent need of about 2000 people who remain without a shelter considered appropriate. More than 1,300 houses marked in yellow are damaged and require repair. 450 houses remain closed and inaccessible. 1470 green houses are not affected and remain habitable.
Women represent 53%, men 47% and the number of children living in these houses is 7267 representing 43% of the affected population. Obviously, the vulnerability of this population will worsen with a crisis situation due to a natural disaster
