Located in North Africa, and a little straddling Asia with the Sinai Peninsula, the Arab Republic of Egypt has a population of over 100 million, for an area of over 1 million square kilometers. Its history dates back to three millennia BC. J.C. when we go back to the time of the pharaohs. This former protectorate of England experienced political upheaval during the Arab Spring, a movement that began in Tunisia in January 2011. This country has always identified with the Nile, this majestic river for which it has a conflict with the Ethiopia, around its great dam called Renaissance. Egypt has been chaired by General Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, since 2014. This country still builds its pride on its antiquity, especially on its pyramids which date back more than four (4) millennia, and also on its other historical sites including the Valley of the Kings and the Sphynx of Giza
The pyramids of Egypt: between genius and mystery
The pyramids of Egypt, by their architecture, have given rise, for centuries, to controversial theories about their construction. If, for some, it is about the genius of engineers and architects of nearly three (3) millennia BC. J.C, after having suffered a lot of failures, for others it is supernatural knowledge, and therefore from aliens. The latter theory aroused the anger of high officials in the Egyptian state, when Elon Musk, billionaire and boss of Tesla and SpaceX companies, tweeted on July 31, 2020 that the pyramids were built by aliens. In fact, behind these pyramids, a whole story is hidden. Indeed, the construction of these monuments dates back to the years 2667-2648 BC. J.C. during the reign of Djoser, and a few decades later, especially with Khufu who built the first of the famous pyramids of Giza, with techniques where the faces were smooth. In different forms, up to different degrees, the use of mathematics (geometry, algebra, etc.) was present in their construction. It shows the genius of these men and women of the day. Also, these constructions, well cut to measure, leave room for doubt about a natural knowledge so advanced for the time. Indeed, neither the stroke of genius nor the mysteries seem to have their reason for being, if we take for example, the pyramid of Cheops, the largest of Giza, for which it took nearly two (2) million limestone blocks, each weighing 2.5 tons. At that time, one wonders how long it took to transport them, what device they could have used and, above all, how it was possible to build a building with a height of approximately 140 meters.
The construction of the pyramids
The construction of the pyramids, and especially the techniques used to transport these numerous very heavy limestone blocks, still leave many unanswered questions. Nevertheless, in 2018, archaeologists were able to discover at random, a steep slope, which could remove the doubt on the transport of these blocks of limestone. But there is still a lot to prove. This doubt persists when it comes to thinking about the techniques for the construction of the largest and most important, those of Cheops, Khephren and Menkaure, located on the Giza plateau. If, for the transport of stones, there are lively debates, for the craftsmen who built them, the debate no longer seems to have its place. Indeed, the construction of these pyramids was carried out by free, well-nourished and paid men. This implies that it was not about the slaves. Archaeological excavations have demonstrated, through objects and skeletons found, and also a city of workers near the pyramids of Giza and their tombs, the remains of meat and fish, lentils, containers to put food. alcohol, bones that have demonstrated their access to health care. In short, the workers worked of their own accord, felt at ease, so in fact there was no slavery.
The pyramids of Egypt: an indisputable pride
With nearly 'a hundred pyramids, and in particular in Lower Egypt, which went through different periods and dynasties, Egypt is best known for its most famous being on the Giza plateau which are three in number (3) . Indeed, they were built by pharaohs, with different shapes, sizes, dimensions and functions, from one dynasty to another. This is the reason why some are better known than others.
The pride of the Egyptians, with regard to these pyramids, lies, among other things, in the fact that, that of Khufu, the larger, is the only one of the seven (7) wonders of the world still visible, therefore the only survivor. The pyramids of Egypt are also among the most visited monuments in this country. They constitute the Egyptian identity, and bear witness to the advance of this civilization, despite the mysteries that still lie behind their construction. While it is true that Egypt is not the country with the most pyramids, it is the one that comes to mind first when it comes to talking about it. That said, the Egyptians do an excellent job of propaganda, as they attract a lot of tourists with these monuments, and its economy (GDP) is based in part on international or foreign tourism.
Built to ensure the pharaohs' journey to the world. 'beyond and to receive their mummified bodies as well as those of their wives, important figures of the State or their entourage, the pyramids, the construction of which still arouses lively debates, are the pride of all of Egypt. Thus, it is difficult to dream of sightseeing in this country without thinking of visiting its pyramids, a pride of more than four (4) millennia.
While it is good to travel and sightsee, visit the pyramids of Egypt, it is to go to the meeting of wonders which transcended the pangs of time.
