Will the government provide an instrument to punish its own members?
Thursday, January 10, 2019 ((rezonodwes.com)) – The Director General of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), Miradin Morlan. Monday at a press conference called for a tax law criminalizing fraud and tax evasion to compel violators to pay taxes.
For Morlan, who personally the order for employees to open the doors of the DGI in the middle of the night to urgently regularize new members of the government before their presentation to parliament in 2018, estimated that this law will allow the state to collect more revenue.
In his capacity as collector of taxes, the Director General of the DGI urged citizens to file their final income tax returns before the deadline or they would be penalized by the law.
He advised them to declare in all frankness and sincerity, whatever the field of activity, all the revenues generated during the previous fiscal year, namely 2017-2018.
Referring to Article 127 of the Haitian tax code, the Director General of the DGI, Miradin Morlan, recalled that the final declaration of income tax is due and payable from 1 October to 31 January.
“The last week of the due date is to be avoided because of crowds in front of the premises of the DGI,” he warned.
