After the brutal death of cultural promoter Joubert Charles, the initiator of Ayiti Men Konpa, Akinson Bélizaire said Zagalo tried unsuccessfully and repeatedly to establish a local festival of Haitian music. But now it's done. Since last year, a new musical meeting, the first weekend of January of each year, has been set with Ayiti Mizik Festival.

About a month in advance, in a press conference at the Hôtel La Réserve, the group Ayiti mizik SA has reiterated to the public its commitment to bring something new in the organization of the festival.
Hosted by Henfrasa, this event, with an overloaded line up, could not accommodate, as expected, the performances of Djakout # 1, Kreyòl la, Nu-Look and Fatima.
Before being held between 2hours in the afternoon and 2hours in the morning, the kick-off of the festival could only be given around 7am by Bernier Sylvain (BS) and Jean Belony Murat (Bélo) followed by the performance of Faviola who interpreted the national anthem.
The young musical groups Zikòs and Buzz had the opportunity to offer the public its first festive notes. Buzz, revelation of the first edition of the festival, made the difference especially thanks to the talent of Junior Bonheur.

In addition to the compass, other musical trends were in the spotlight. Ruthshelle Guillaume, Bélo for alternative music, Rockfam for rap, Roody for world music.
The indestructible Shoubou, despite his state of health could occur on stage with his group, Tabou Combo, alongside Clinton Benoit and Fanfan. The creators of the international mega hit “New York City” have also been honored for having represented Haiti with dignity on the international scene for decades.
Other distinctions were awarded to Rockfam, Nu Look Zagalo (for his work promoting the direct compass) and Fabiola Dupoux (for his contribution to the organization of events).
