In Haiti, women's football has been practiced for several years, but lived in the shadow of its male counterpart. However, it accelerated until it reached its peak in 2018 thanks to the growing number of players produced by the “Camp Nous” Academy and the spectacular results of the national teams on the continental front even in international competitions.
a country where the paths to success are almost impenetrable, football remains one of the best options for young people to become real stars. To confirm this, in 2018, young Haitians, some in the shadows at the time, quickly made history. While the level of their championship is still far from tutelage peaks, Corventina, Sherly Thursday, Rachellle Caremus and others have managed to attract the large crowd with their virtuosity.
Today, women are no longer considered household furniture. We are talking about rights to them and we are therefore ignoring any phallocratic idea in all areas. At the sporting level, the difference remains strongly physical. First, because on average women are not as fast or powerful as men. This difference is also physiological and related to the evolution of women's sport: the quality and intensity of physical preparation are still limited.
Women's football takes off!
Today, the Women's football is, supposedly, more popular than its male counterpart in Haiti, if we take into account the comments of the supporters present in the championship games and the preference of the number 1 of the Haitian Federation, Yves Jean-Bart who, for him the activities concerning women's sport are rather a hobby. The public no longer attends the folk show of our players, the game has become more serious and continues to be appreciated. Everything has changed in a few years and it will be largely for the benefit of the country. Since the Grenadiers took part in the U20 World Cup last summer, women's football has been exceptionally enthusiastic and enjoys significant visibility. It should be remembered that the fields were filling up more, during a few matches of the last edition of the championship which saw the Tigresses crown for the 6th time in a row, a real raid that can be explained by the strength of a collective solidarity, rarely turned upside down, and the ambition shared between players who know each other in club and selection
We hope that this effect of the World is felt for several more years. It will also benefit our girls, with an audience like men. If the men's D1 has benefited from a few games broadcast by Canal + the past season, it is expected that this channel takes into consideration our Grenadières with a device offering unprecedented visibility to women's football.
Note, the Academy Camp We who has trained Nérilia Mondésir, Corventina, Batcheba Louis and other safe talents, was officially inaugurated on May 30, 2012. Each year, the National Technical Direction organizes detection sessions to renew or increase the number of children in the center, located at Croix-des-Bouquets ranch, counting from various categories: U-13 girls, U-15 girls, U-20 girls and senior girls.
